For years, I thought being oblivious would be wonderful.
I’ve always had big feelings, and when I see injustice, tragedy, or suffering, it doesn’t just affect my day—it can stay with me for years.
I never understood how some people could watch something heartbreaking on the news, acknowledge it, and then continue with their lives.
What I’ve come to realise is that they aren’t oblivious at all—they simply have a different way of processing and separating those emotions from their daily lives.
I still wish I could borrow that skill once in a while.
