“Consistently Inconsistent”

My husband has called me “consistently inconsistent” for years—long before either of us knew I was autistic or ADHD—and he’s always laughed at how unpredictable I can be.

I never understood what he meant because, honestly, I make perfect sense to me.

What I didn’t realize is that my autistic brain and ADHD brain are constantly pulling me in different directions, and whichever one wins usually determines how I feel that day.

One day something is my absolute favourite thing in the world, and the next day I’m wondering if I ever liked it at all.

Somehow my husband loves this about me—or at least he’s learned to live with it—and says I keep him on his toes.
