Lately my focus isn’t what it used to be—but I’m working on it.

My mind races on a good day—one topic to another—and I can’t stay focused (unless I’m hyper-focused, but that’s a post for another day).

I’m on a journey of discovery, but my thoughts jump so much that it’s hard to remember what I’ve learned or stay on one track long enough to make sense of it.

I don’t remember my inability to focus being this bad before—so what’s going on?

A quick Google search confirms what I already suspected: short-form content (like TikToks, Reels, Shorts) is training my brain to expect constant novelty every few seconds.

So yesterday I left my phone at home while running errands, and today I’m consciously avoiding doom scrolling—I’m trying to break the habits that are hurting my brain… anyone else feeling the effects of quick-satisfaction content?
